Schloss Hollenegg for Design is an initiative by the curator Alice Stori Liechtenstein. She invites emerging industrial designers for a residency at the castle in Hollenegg, Austria, and exhibits their work once a year.
2017 we were invited to design the identity for the exhibition: Ad Mensam.
Ad Mensam explores the table as a setting for human interaction, a place where we come together, share food, talk, fight, and make up. At the table we meet ostensibly to eat, but effectively for the intrinsic need each one of us has to join the group and feel part of a larger whole.
Together with photographer Simone Sandahl, we visited the castle, and our time there was very special. It’s a really unique place with so many things to discover. For this identity we were specifically interested in the tables. We imagined how they might come to life when moved around for the exhibition. Therefore we ended up as models together with the tables on the invitations and catalogues.
The exhibition opened with the most amazing reception in the castle and a dance party in the ballroom!
